I've had Sparky for 8 years now & this breaks my heart... The problem is I have a 9 ear old Jack Russell (& a 1 1/2 year old but he's a wimp) & the 2 are food agressive (only w/ each other).They have that whole male alpha thing going on. They are the best of buddies, however, if they find a chip or something my roomate or daugher has dropped, they face off.. The little one doesn't back down, and about 5 times in 8 years it has turned into a fight.. But lab or not, he has a biiger bite, and I dont want to risk them hurting each other. I have a 4 year old daughter who Spaky adores... She can stick her hand in his dish whie he is eating & he will happily wag his tail and not make a sound. She lasso's him w/ her jump roap & leads him all over the back yard for hours, &he happily goes. He is a BIG teddy bear, just wants to be where you are. He'll sleep in the bed if you let him, if not he knows "down" He is house broken, sweet, loving.. Just maybe better off with no other dogs.. sigh..
